October 4, 2010 – My aunt, Karen Erak, died last week. She was a scientist, and in her will, she left me her final, untested project: a time machine. I doubted it would work, yet curiosity gets the best of us. As such, here I stand, a satchel of supplies, expecting it to send me back to one-thousand years ago, to the Medieval Ages. I have decided to keep a journal of sorts, so that if I should not be able to come back, it may survive to the time when I would exist, and share my story. I guess all there is to do now is to test it. Without further ado, I take my first steps into the realms of lore.

October 5, 1010(?) – To both my expectations, and surprise, the time machine did work, and is here with me. I tested it, going back to the moment I left, and then back to the field in which I initially appeared. The land is as I expected it to be, rather barren, and there was a slight mist around me, which has since disappeared. Whether it was because of the time machine, or simply a weather phenomena, I do not know, but I doubt it matters much. Upon exploring the land a bit, I found castles reminiscent of Old England, so I'm guessing that's where I have come out of the time stream in. It's strange, as I did not input any sort of location. Needs further research. Tomorrow I shall expose myself to the natives and see what happens.

October 6, 1010 – As I said I would, I spoke with the local Lord today. As a precaution to this venture, I stole some clothes (with the full intention of giving them back) so he would not find anything suspicious. To my surprise, it was not hard to obtain an audience with him, and our talk was nice as well. I found out that I am indeed in England, though why I appeared here rather than in America is still a mystery. Lord Hector asked me to retrieve a witch from the hill beyond, because she may have been plotting against his villa. I tried to tell him that “witches” did not, in fact, have magic, but he would not hear it. I actually felt somewhat sorry for the witch I was to find, knowing what people did to them, but I could  not blow my cover, so a witch-hunter was I.

October 7, 1010 – For the first half of my day, my search was unfruitful. When we talked at noon, Lord Hector said that she was hiding with witchcraft, though I had my doubts. He restocked my provisions, and I was off again, hoping for a bit more luck. I found a hut, but as I was unsure of why there was no body there, I decided to do a stake out. With any luck, I should be able to go a day.

October 8, 1010 – There has been no sign of  a witch, or anybody living in the cabin. However, it Is only noon, and with the day still early I hope to catch a glimpse of th

??? - I woke up in the woods today, with nothing but my journal. I can only presume that I was attacked by this "witch", because there are only bruises on me, no cuts. She knew I was there, apparently, and ambushed me while I was writing. I am too weak at the moment, but tomorrow, I should have enough strength to return to the villa and report to Lord Hector. For now though, I shall slip into the realm of my dreams.

??? - I awoke in a room that smelt of flowers, even though no flowers were present. There was someone singing beautifully in the kitchen. As I went to see who it was, it was a young girl dressed in a typical black cloak and witch hat. Was this truly my target? Could somebody clueless enough to give herself away like that truly be a threat? No, I decided. In order to spare her life, I knocked her out and took her back to the time machine. She was light, so she was easy to carry. I set it to go back to the moment I had left for the second time.

October 5, 2010 – I had saved her. However, the first day with her was rather awkward. When she awoke, she immediately apologized, to my complete surprise. Most other people would have had an awkward silence, but her... I had no more time to ponder the situation, as she caught me by the arm and dragged me off, apparently suffering no future shock, another surprise.
As the day went on, she dragged me from place to place all around town, having some sort of bizarre innate knowledge of the area. It was a strange day all right, but it paled in comparison to the next; after all, it was a school day.

October 6, 2010 – The morning was normal enough, though once we actually got to the campus, that's when things started to go awry. She blended in perfectly, even in witch clothes, and seemed to know and get along with everyone. She also got an absolutely perfect score on every exam and homework assignment, despite having absolutely no prior knowledge. It was strange, alright, and I wondered if I had really done good in saving her.

October 11, 2010 – She's unbearable. The behavior I described on Monday continued all week, and she has become an annoyance even I can't ignore, so I had her tell me what day we had come here. I have her knocked out, wearing a blindfold and with a gag in her mouth. I have set the time machine to go back one last time.

October 10, 2010 – After we went back, I immediately took her to Lord Hector, and had him schedule the burning as soon as possible. Luckily, we were able to do it that day, and I was able to personally tie her to the stake and start the fire. It was a good day indeed. I set the wanted date one final time, and returned, afterwards destroying the time machine, so that I would never experience another ordeal like her.

Final Word Count - 1052
I meet a witch named Mary Sue in 11th century England. Done for school, so I thought that I might as well put here.

If you notice anything wrong, or that can be improved, please let me know.

Anything that does get pointed out to me will not be updated until the final draft.
